The Alignment of the Ministry’s Plans with the Sustainable Development Goals

The Kingdom’s Economic Recovery Plan has been launched to support the recovery post-COVID-19 and enhance economic growth. The plan is based on five pillars that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Creating quality job opportunities and increasing citizen’s employability

The government aims to make Bahraini citizens the first choice in the labor market by improving employment opportunities, training, and skills development. This contributes to the achievement of SDG1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth.

Simplifying and increasing the efficiency of commercial procedures

Improving the efficiency of commercial procedures is crucial in enhancing Bahrain’s overall business environment to further attract investment through continuously easing the business registration processes. This contributes to the achievement of SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.

Launching major strategic projects

The government launched a set of strategic projects worth over USD30 billion. These projects aim to enhance Bahrain's economic position and competitiveness, improve the quality of life for citizens and residents, increase employment opportunities, attract foreign investments, and achieve sustainable growth. This contributes to the achievement of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Developing strategic priority sectors

With the aim of increasing economic growth, the Kingdom launched 6 sector strategies: Oil and Gas, Tourism, Logistics Services, Financial Services, Industry, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy. This contributes to the achievement of SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean energy, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, SDG 12: Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Achieving fiscal sustainability and economic stability

The updated Fiscal Balance Program includes eight key initiatives that focus on developing non-oil revenues and controlling government expenditures to achieve fiscal balance by 2024. These initiatives contribute to SDG 8: Economic Growth and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
